Lymphoedema

If the leg is constantly swollen

My experience report with the VITANDAR XL stable boots, rear

Hello, my name is Jasmin and I would like to tell you about my experience with the fantastic Vitandar XL stable boots, rear.

I have to admit that I was very skeptical at first. I didn’t know whether it made sense for my horse to make this investment (to buy the gaiters) or not. Unfortunately, my horse has several problems, he is 20 years old, “actually fit”, but he has shivering, which is becoming more and more of a problem as he gets older and he also had a colic operation 10 years ago, which is why he has developed lymphoedema in his right hind leg. This lymphoedema is actually our biggest problem, as the swelling affects the whole leg.

My best friend has been swearing by the Vitandar XL stable boots for a long time and thought I should just try them out because of his problem.

I called Vitandar with low expectations and was very well advised by Ms. Horn. We had a long and professional conversation where I was able to complain about my horse and tell her about his aches and pains.

In the end, I ordered the gaiters after the excellent consultation and was excited to see what would await me and my horse.

This is the leg before treatment.

I started with the familiarization phase.

I put the gaiters on for about 4 to 6 hours over two days. Despite his shivering, he accepted them without any problems. Even during this short interval, we had a sense of achievement because the leg became thinner despite the short interval.

At the fitting.

Now I have the gaiters on 24/7 for about 2 weeks and can report positively that it was my best purchase for the horse for a long time. The leg has become much slimmer and despite his shivering, he gets on very well with the gaiters. I am really so positively surprised by this product and can only say that it will not be the last Vitandar product I buy for my horses. Thank you so much for such a great product!!!

After 24 hours of wearing the boots.

When I started, it was 37 cm and now it’s gone back to 34.5 cm.
And it’s also a whole lot thinner at the top, unfortunately I hadn’t measured it.

Measure the healthy leg if necessary. Our experience has shown that the compressive effect can reduce swelling well. A gaiter that is bought too large is then quickly too wide.

In the transition period, we can work with climbing extensions. These can be attached to the Velcro straps and extend the circumference of the gaiter for the initial period. Once the swelling has subsided, the extensions can be removed again and the gaiter will then fit.
